Job Description
Role: Lead GCP Data Engineer Duration: Long Term Location: Remote Industry: PBM / health care industry or finance industry Key Skills: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) BigQuery Data Warehousing Python & SQL Development Data Pipeline Orchestration (Airflow, Beam, Dataflow) Data Visualization & Analytics (Looker Studio, Cognos) Kafka General Use of AI coding assistance or dev tools (Github Copilot, Claude Code, etc) Nice to Have: Java (to collaborate with a Java development team) SnapLogic (currently in use but can be learned) GitHub Copilot or other AI coding assistants The Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring technology solutions are designed to meet resiliency, stability, non-functional, functional and operational readiness use cases.
This position is responsible for ongoing development, maintenance, support and architecture of existing systems and platforms. This position provides thought leadership and champions data management strategies to enable and support real-time data pipelines.
Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring technology solutions are designed to meet resiliency, stability, non-functional, functional and operational readiness use cases.Responsible for ongoing development, maintenance and support of existing systems and platformsProvide thought leadership and champion software engineering best practices, innovative solutioning and Agile and Dev Ops best practicesParticipate in staffing plans to identify subject matter experts (SMEs) and provide feedback for staff performance reviewsOwn technology solutions within area, including proactive monitoring and alerting, technological roadmap communication of overall health and future sustainabilityPartner with Architecture, Infrastructure and Security to ensure excellence in solution design and evolution of systems architecture Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, data science, statistics or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experienceHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent required8 years of extensive technical experience in variety of application development or package software implementationsProven experience of ongoing education related to technology trends within software development and supportProven experience with multiple development and support methodologiesAbility to manage work direction and lead, influence, mentor, and provide feedback to others within teamMust be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorshipAdditional Qualifications Ability to drive innovation and be forward thinkingExcellent written, technical, and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage work direction and lead, influence, mentor, and provide feedback to others within teamEstablished presenter of technical and non-technical material adapted to the respective audienceAbility to transition abstract concepts into comprehensive technical solutionsStrong problem-solving and business analysis skillsAbility to drive innovation and be forward thinkingStrong traits of decisiveness and judgmentExcellent documentation skillsPreferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, data science, statistics or related area of studyCertifications in Cloud and data technologiesRelevant ETL or Data movement certificationsExperience working with Kafka or other data stream processing platformsExperience working in environment with regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)Previous experience working in an Agile/Product Delivery modelUnderstanding of security implications of domainPrevious experience in PBM / health care industry or finance industry
