Remote Senior Backend Engineer

Salary: £59,000 - 88,000 per year

Requirements

• We require experience with Git and GitHub.
• We require experience with Python, including tools and frameworks such as msgspec, httpx, pydantic, FastAPI, structlog, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, Jinja2, pytest, ruff, and mypy.
• We require experience using mypy or another static type checker.
• We require experience designing and working with REST APIs and OpenAPI specifications.
• We require experience with relational databases, especially Postgres.
• We require experience with Docker and docker-compose.
• We require experience with AWS Lambda.
• We require experience with AWS S3, RDS, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and SES.
• We require fluent spoken and written English.
• We require permanent right to work in the UK or Ireland without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• We prototype, implement, ship, and support backend features that are changing the insurance industry.
• We work within a small backend functional team of up to four or five people.
• We collaborate with a technical lead and product owner to deliver the right features.
• We help digitize risks using our AI-powered platform.
• We contribute to a distributed engineering and product team across Europe.
