Software Dev Engineer 1 (Java/Kotlin)- Remote

Software Dev Engineer 1 (Java/Kotlin) 12-month contract Remote (MST) Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00per hr.

We need a Software Dev Engineer 1 for our Content Publishing Platform teams, which are agile software development teams that build essential tools for content publishing and delivery.

These tools consist of content entry, business logic transformations, search, and end channel delivery. The tools require a deep understanding of language translation, global content distribution, data manipulation, and data transfer mediums such as JSON and XML.

The current need is to build services to help enforce and reduce errors within the church's publishing pipeline so the church can begin rolling out tools to a global publishing audience.

A deep understanding of Java/Kotlin is needed, along with knowledge of AWS, especially regarding services like SNS, SQS, Lambda, and API Gateways.

RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop and maintain tools for content entry, transformation, search, and delivery • Build services that enforce quality and reduce publishing errors • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile development environment • Support the global rollout of publishing tools by building scalable and reliable backend systems QUALIFICATIONS Education: • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field Work Experience: • 2 years of progressive, relevant professional experience Required Skills: • Java/Kotlin Experience, Backend Pipeline Development, AWS Services and Serverless Experience • Strong understanding of data formats such as JSON and XML • Experience with AWS cloud services, particularly: • SNS (Simple Notification Service) • SQS (Simple Queue Service) • AWS Lambda • API Gateway • Understanding of data manipulation and transformation techniques • Familiarity with content publishing systems and global content distribution • Experience or knowledge of language translation workflows Bonus Skills: • Working knowledge or experience with our Church's Gospel Library, Streaming, and Publishing Solutions.
