OpenShift Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £54,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• 6–10+ years infrastructure background
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP)
• Proven administration of NetBackup (10.x ideally) in Kubernetes environments
• Strong Commvault Kubernetes protection experience
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes operators
• Knowledge of CSI / PV / PVC lifecycle
• Experience with cluster-level RBAC
• Familiarity with virtual machine protection in OpenShift (KubeVirt / OpenShift Virtualization)
• Proficiency in RHEL and scripting (Python / Shell)
• Experience in highly regulated enterprise environments (nice to have)
• OADP / Velero experience (nice to have)
• Experience with NetBackup Flex Appliances (nice to have)

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud-native data protection strategy across OpenShift clusters
• Protect container workloads and OpenShift Virtualization VMs using Veritas NetBackup and Commvault
• Collaborate with teams to implement enterprise backup solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to OpenShift and backup systems
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations
• Assist in scaling and optimizing OpenShift environments
• Provide technical guidance and support for Kubernetes infrastructure

We are seeking a solid OpenShift/Kubernetes Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in cloud-native data protection to join our large-scale transformation project. You will play a key role in leading our data protection strategy across OpenShift clusters. This is a long-term contract role with an initial duration until November 2026, starting in April 2026. The position is remote within the UK, with very occasional travel required to locations such as London, Sheffield, or Birmingham.
