Remote IT Service Management Consultant

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for a Full Stack Java Developer or Technical Improvement Consultant with experience in IT service management and process improvement.
• We need someone with a strong understanding of ITIL principles, CAB, release control, and governance frameworks.
• Experience aligning processes to CI/CD pipelines, change management, and tooling such as service desk and identity platforms is required.
• We value experience defining operating models, end-to-end process integration, and release management frameworks.
• Familiarity with security and compliance controls aligned to ISO standards is preferred.
• Experience introducing metrics, governance controls, and standardised delivery practices is important.

Responsibilities

• We will need you to assess our current release processes, including CAB, approvals, deployments, and communication.
• We want you to define and improve our end-to-end release lifecycle model.
• We need you to standardise release types and introduce clear readiness criteria and approval controls.
• We want you to align release management with CI/CD pipelines and change management.
• We need you to define release cadence, governance, post-release validation, feedback loops, and release metrics.
• We expect you to define our end-to-end lifecycle from demand through to support.
• We want you to establish clear handoffs and ownership between IT, Product, and QA.
• We need you to remove siloed or disconnected processes and introduce entry and exit criteria.
• We want you to design a single front door for all IT work and define intake categorisation and prioritisation.
• We need you to implement approval gating before work begins and align our process with tooling to reduce manual, off-process activity.
• We want you to define minimum execution standards such as change records, test evidence, and approvals.
• We need you to define and implement key performance measures for our operating model.

We have a live opportunity for a Full Stack Java Developer / Technical Improvement Consultant on a 4-month contract in the UK with hybrid working to be confirmed. The role is outside IR35, subject to final determination, with a start date at the end of June. Our client has an established IT function aligned to ITIL principles with governance, security, and compliance controls already in place, and we are looking to further evolve this into a fully integrated, scalable, and measurable operating model.
