UX Designer

Salary: £55,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for an articulate and creative UX Designer with a strong portfolio of successful UX work.
• We need someone with deep analytical thinking and the ability to communicate insights clearly through presentations and reports.
• We need experience in designing accessible systems and services, with a good understanding of WCAG 2.2 guidelines and inclusive design for users with varying levels of digital literacy.
• We need experience creating intuitive, user-friendly digital experiences backed by solid user research and usability testing, with the ability to extract and present actionable insights.
• We need proficiency in prototyping and design tools including Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, and Balsamiq.
• We need familiarity with research and analysis tools such as Dovetail, Mural, and Microsoft Forms.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and analytical tools like Google Analytics is desirable.
• We need someone comfortable working within Agile frameworks and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and practices is required.
• A degree or equivalent qualification related to the area you work in is desirable.
• You must be willing and eligible to achieve a minimum of SC clearance, including having been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years and having the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• We plan and conduct user research using appropriate methods including user interviews and surveys to address research problems, establish user needs, highlight pain points, and identify opportunities to improve user experiences.
• We analyse research using appropriate methods and triangulate findings across multiple research outputs.
• We produce artefacts based on research and design, including personas, user journeys, and service blueprints.
• We create wireframes and designs using various levels of fidelity and iterate them based on feedback.
• We create interactive prototypes at different levels of fidelity to test design options.
• We initiate, plan, and conduct workshops with stakeholders and users.
• We work with stakeholders, users, business analysts, technical teams, and product owners to shape and develop the user experience.
• We initiate, plan, conduct, and analyse usability testing to evaluate digital systems and services.
• We ensure research activities are inclusive and designed to meet accessibility and digital literacy needs, and adhere to WCAG 2.2.
• We research and design information architecture to help users navigate successfully.
• We work with stakeholders to define success metrics so services can continually iterate.
• We work and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams using agile methods.
• We advocate for and educate client teams about user-centred design, including upskilling and mentoring.
• We contribute to our Community of Practice to help it develop alongside industry advances.
