Senior Full Stack Java Developer - 100% Remote

Optomi, in partnership with a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Full-Stack Developer to support a large-scale modernization initiative.

This role will focus on migrating legacy mainframe functionality to a modern technology stack using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and Kafka.

The ideal candidate is a strong full-stack engineer who can quickly ramp up on an existing codebase, contribute across front-end and back-end development, and take ownership of development, testing, integration, and delivery.

Responsibilities: Develop and enhance full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Angular.Modernize and migrate functionality from legacy mainframe systems to modern applications and services.Build and integrate APIs, microservices, and Kafka-based messaging solutions.Work with business users and technical teams to understand requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, deployment, and production support.Maintain high standards for code quality through testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.Make technical and architectural decisions for complex distributed systems.Collaborate across engineering teams to improve system reliability, performance, and integration.Identify technical risks and proactively develop solutions to address them.

Experience: 8+ years of software development experience.Strong hands-on full-stack development experience with Java and Angular.Experience with Java Spring and/or Spring Boot.Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming technologies.Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, automated testing, and DevOps practices.Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional technical and business teams.Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry is a plus.Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT is a plus.
