Requirements

• Proven experience managing enterprise-grade infrastructure
• Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux, with both preferred
• Strong understanding of network protocols, configuration, and security, including secure transport protocols such as TLS/SSL and IPSec
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including encryption and secure data handling practices
• Proficiency in Java and Python for scripting and application integration
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar
• Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, including encryption, hashing, digital signatures, and PKI
• Experience with certificate lifecycle management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
• Familiarity with key management systems such as AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, HashiCorp Vault, or HSMs
• Ability to implement and automate secure key rotation, storage, and access controls
• Knowledge of compliance and security standards related to cryptography, including TLS best practices, FIPS, and NIST guidelines

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure across Windows and Unix environments
• Manage and optimize networking components to ensure secure and efficient connectivity
• Implement and maintain cryptographic controls, including encryption at rest and in transit, certificate management, and secure communication protocols
• Develop, integrate, and support secure key management solutions such as HSMs, cloud KMS, and secrets management platforms
• Monitor and respond to cryptographic events such as key rotations, expirations, and compromise scenarios to ensure continuous system integrity and compliance
• Administer and troubleshoot databases to support application performance and reliability, including secure encryption configurations
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline infrastructure operations, including cryptographic lifecycle management
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate infrastructure with application requirements and ensure secure handling of sensitive data and cryptographic operations

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Developer to design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure solutions that support enterprise applications and services. We need someone with a strong foundation in systems administration, networking, and development, with a focus on automation and scalability, plus hands-on experience with cryptographic systems, secure key management, and encryption technologies. This is a hybrid role based in Knutsford, with 60% office and 40% remote working, on a contract running until 31/07/2026. The role is pay rate £282 and must be PAYE through umbrella.
