Remote Head of DevOps

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements

• 8+ years in DevOps or infrastructure, including 3+ years in a management role
• Proven experience scaling DevOps teams in fast-paced, high-growth tech environments
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes cluster management, networking, and security
• Extensive experience with Terraform and GitOps practices
• Proficiency managing multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Hetzner, and GCP
• Strong understanding of service mesh and microservices architecture
• Solid experience with observability tools for metrics, logging, and tracing
• Practical experience implementing security best practices within CI/CD
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Balanced strategic mindset with strong hands-on problem-solving ability
• Experience building developer-centric platform engineering tools
• Experience managing multi-provider cloud footprints and resource optimisation
• Experience leading high-pressure incident resolution and system recovery
• Experience coaching senior engineers and developing future technical leaders
• Experience designing standardised, scalable engineering workflows
• Nice to have: experience in blockchain, decentralised finance, Kafka or NATS, chaos engineering, CDN optimisation, edge-based service delivery, and knowledge of 1inch protocols and the Web3 landscape

Responsibilities

• Define and execute our DevOps strategy to align infrastructure growth with our business objectives
• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team while fostering a culture of automation and accountability
• Oversee multi-cloud Kubernetes clusters and ensure environmental changes are managed through automated IaC and GitOps
• Standardise deployment processes and build self-service tools for secrets management and infrastructure provisioning
• Define and implement SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs to ensure the stability and performance of critical services
• Oversee our monitoring stack and establish formal incident response and post-mortem processes
• Enforce security by design and maintain adherence to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 frameworks
• Lead infrastructure consolidation initiatives and monitor cloud expenditure to identify cost-saving opportunities
