Backend Engineer

Salary: £42,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements

• We require strong Java backend experience, including Spring Boot, Bazel, and Maven.
• We require experience designing and building distributed services.
• We require hands-on experience with Kubernetes, specifically GKE.
• We require strong API design skills with gRPC, GraphQL, and REST.
• We require experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• We require experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including BigQuery and Cloud SQL.
• We value experience with security compliance engineering and ITGC/SOX frameworks.
• We need someone who is comfortable working independently and owning major workstreams with minimal guidance.
• We require the ability to work 100% remotely.
• A criminal background check is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• We will have you architect and build Java-based backend services using Spring Boot and Apollo.
• We will have you develop compliance controls within a GitHub Enterprise environment.
• We will have you own technical decisions end-to-end for our security compliance platform.
• We will have you help ensure every production code change meets regulatory standards across thousands of repositories.
• We will rely on you to work autonomously in a high-ownership contractor role.
• We will have you contribute to the next generation of our security compliance platform.
