SQL Support Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for an experienced SQL Support Engineer with strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration and support.
• We need experience supporting SQL Server high availability environments, maintenance, and performance troubleshooting.
• We require strong experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments.
• We need solid knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
• We are looking for proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across databases, infrastructure, networking, and applications.
• We need experience implementing and configuring business applications.
• We require the ability to work effectively with development, infrastructure, support teams, and third-party vendors.
• We are seeking experience supporting production and other business-critical systems.
• We need knowledge of server monitoring, maintenance, and operational best practices.
• We require strong communication and documentation skills.
• Desirable experience includes VMware or Hyper-V, Azure or AWS, PowerShell scripting or automation, and IIS, application hosting, or middleware platforms.

Responsibilities

• We will maintain and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including high availability systems.
• We will install, configure, and maintain Windows Server environments.
• We will take part in a 24/7 remote on-call rota after training.
• We will troubleshoot database, infrastructure, networking, and application issues.
• We will perform application installations, upgrades, and configuration changes.
• We will support the deployment and implementation of new systems and applications.
• We will monitor system performance and proactively resolve incidents.
• We will collaborate with developers and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues.
• We will manage server builds, patching, maintenance, and environment configuration.
• We will support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• We will maintain technical documentation, procedures, and configuration records.
• We will assist with networking issues, including DNS, VPNs, firewalls, and connectivity.
• We will participate in system testing, releases, and change management activities.
