Remote Senior Cloud Engineer

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements

• Experience developing and maintaining infrastructure as code to a high standard, such as Terraform
• Experience deploying and maintaining workloads in cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
• Experience working directly with engineering teams in a collaborative approach
• Experience with DevOps tooling and processes, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, and reliability
• Networking knowledge
• Comfortable working in a varied environment and adapting quickly to new areas of work
• Experience with containerisation
• Experience supporting SaaS application hosting
• Experience running cloud platforms at scale
• Ability to coach and mentor others to share skills and best practices
• Experience with transformation projects such as cloud migrations, workload modernisations, and DevOps transformations

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, evolution, and operation of our cloud platforms and DevOps capabilities across our UK product portfolio
• Support cloud architecture decisions, including environment structure, network topology, identity and access models, and shared platform services
• Help develop and promote standards and reference approaches for infrastructure as code, configuration management, and environment provisioning
• Design, implement, and improve DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, release and deployment strategies, environment promotion, and change management
• Ensure our cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines are secure and resilient by working with DevSecOps and InfoSec on access controls, secrets management, network security, and pipeline hardening
• Maintain strong stability and recovery foundations, including disaster recovery strategy, RTO/RPO definitions, runbooks, and recovery testing
• Manage cloud costs through architectural decisions, capacity planning, scaling strategies, and service selection
• Promote transparency and visibility of cloud costs back to product teams
• Mentor and coach other team members to improve skills and promote best practices
• Work closely with engineering teams to align deployment, monitoring, and operational approaches with application architecture
• Collaborate effectively by explaining technical decisions clearly and bringing teams along through support, guidance, and shared ownership
