Requirements
- A good understanding of technical and network security requirements.
- Ability to proactively identify control weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge and experience with SIEM tooling such as Splunk, Chronicle, and Sentinel, as well as event log data.
- Experience understanding firewalls, IDS/IPS, and Windows Security Event Logs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in clear business terms.
- Comfortable taking ownership of your work, identifying the need for action, and working effectively within a team.
- Ability to quickly understand existing infrastructure, network security principles, data flow, and security architectures.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of cloud infrastructure as well as traditional technologies.
- A degree in IT or Cyber is preferred, or an industry-recognised qualification.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of our SIEM solution, Chronicle, working closely with Infrastructure, Networks, DevOps, and our outsourced Security Operations Centre team.
- Define and support the creation of new rules or the fine-tuning of existing rules within the SIEM.
- Investigate SIEM alerts and other security incidents through to completion.
- Work within our Information Security Team to provide a dynamic monitoring and incident response capability.
- Monitor and analyse security events to identify trends, attacks, and potential threats.
- Identify and raise problems, communicate and escalate them through the appropriate channels, and track them through to remediation.
- Monitor and gather threat intelligence, and coordinate subsequent threat hunting.
- Assess security threats from multiple sources and plan mitigation and remediation actions.
- Gather relevant data, analyse incidents, and respond to cyber security events.
- Research and stay current on the latest trends, best practices, and technology developments across cyber security.
- Assist in the design, management, and documentation of security policies, solutions, standards, and processes.
- Design effective test methods for logical security controls.
- Manage endpoint detection and response (EDR) on a day-to-day basis.
