Linux Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

• Must be RedHat Certified and ITII Foundation certified
• Over 6 years of experience in a fast-paced UNIX environment
• Excellent communication and articulation skills
• Ability to drive interaction with senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working in APAC/EMEA and at weekends
• UNIX Administration and troubleshooting skills
• Clear concepts of LVM, user management, and operating system troubleshooting
• Deep understanding of UNIX OS and troubleshooting various UNIX OS issues
• Knowledge of automation, Chef, and Powerbroker technologies
• AWS/cloud knowledge is an added advantage
• Experience in remote troubleshooting and diagnosis of UNIX issues
• Coordination with vendors like Linux and Oracle on hardware/software issues
• Understanding and troubleshooting experience of Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster
• Basic Tivoli Storage Manager Client administration and troubleshooting of backup failures
• Good understanding of network connectivity and protocols with respect to the UNIX platform
• Exposure to ticketing tools like ServiceNow
• Understanding and experience working on DNS, FTP, and NFS

Responsibilities

• Take on a key project for a multinational organization
• Provide UNIX administration and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with vendors to coordinate hardware/software issues
• Diagnose and resolve UNIX issues remotely
• Ensure timely communication with senior stakeholders
• Manage user access and filesystem issues
• Utilize ticketing tools for incident management
• Troubleshoot and remediate backup failures using Tivoli Storage Manager
• Implement automation solutions using Chef and other technologies
