Software Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 45,000 per year

Requirements

• A degree from a top university with a strong academic record
• Some relevant industry experience, including internships, placements, or early-career roles
• Solid experience with Python for backend development
• Experience with modern frontend development; Svelte and/or jQuery are preferred but not required
• Familiarity with distributed systems, APIs, and integrations
• Comfortable working across multiple surfaces and technologies
• Bonus experience with AWS cloud services
• Bonus experience with browser or email extensions
• Bonus experience with third-party API integrations
• Bonus experience with Large Language Models

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain product features end to end
• Develop scalable backend services in Python and intuitive frontend components in Svelte and jQuery
• Own your work from design and implementation through testing and deployment
• Contribute to a high-quality, well-structured codebase by writing maintainable, predictable, readable code built for reliability and long-term health
• Collaborate closely with product, QA, and other engineers by asking clarifying questions early, seeking feedback, and communicating with precision
• Work with QA as partners in quality, not downstream testers
• Bring product thinking into engineering decisions by understanding why a feature matters and how it impacts customers
• Challenge assumptions, propose ideas, and help shape product direction
