Terraform Infrastructure Engineer / IaC SME

Salary: £36,000 - 76,000 per year

Requirements

• We have 4 to 5 years of proven experience in infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code.
• We have knowledge of traditional IT architectures in distributed systems, including virtualisation, Windows, Linux, storage, and containers.
• We have experience with compute platforms such as HCI or CI, backup platforms such as Cohesity, or storage platforms such as NAS, S3, or SAN, which is an advantage.
• We have knowledge of networking and core internet protocols.
• We are familiar with software development tools such as Azure DevOps and Terraform Enterprise.
• We have strong expertise in Terraform, including writing modules in HCL, state management, configuration management, and release management.
• We understand software delivery processes and best practices.
• We have good knowledge of TFE providers such as Nutanix, VMware, and storage platforms.
• We have experience with Ansible, Tower, Python, PowerShell, Bash, C#, .NET, REST or Open API, Power BI, YAML, and JSON.
• We have strong soft skills, including relationship building, influencing and negotiating, active listening, and a proactive mindset.
• We can simplify complex tasks into clear and manageable actions.
• We are effective team players with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• We can work in a rapidly changing Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• We design, implement, and manage our compute and backup infrastructure.
• We automate deployment, monitoring, and management of our infrastructure resources.
• We collaborate with development teams to ensure our CI/CD pipelines are efficient and effective.
• We monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain high availability and reliability.
• We implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• We optimize infrastructure costs and resource utilization.
• We develop infrastructure as code with Terraform using best practices and support implementations from development through to production.
• We cooperate with application teams to support and deliver solutions and new capabilities.
• We build new tools and automate processes to maximise the value of our infrastructure capabilities, including troubleshooting and diagnostics tools.
• We translate security requirements from Security Architects into technical designs.
• We review design specifications to ensure a full understanding of deliverables.
• We write and update technical documentation, including user manuals, system documentation, technical standards, and training materials.

We are a banking client seeking a highly motivated Terraform Infrastructure DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic infrastructure team on a 1-year freelance basis. This is a hybrid role with 8 days onsite per month and the remainder remote, and the position can be based in London, Paris, Brussels, or Amsterdam.
