Salary: £45,500 - 73,500 per year

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as an SDET or Backend Developer, combined
  • 4-5+ years building testing frameworks and tooling for a Cloud SaaS product
  • Strong debugging skills, including the ability to spot design flaws, race conditions, and performance bottlenecks in complex architectures
  • A computer science background or equivalent experience, including programming styles, data structures, and algorithms
  • Experience building, validating, and/or maintaining large distributed systems at scale
  • Solid design and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated passion for engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance
  • Strong cross-group collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working across engineering organizations
  • Experience with Golang, Python, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, Elastic Search, Python, and/or similar technologies; at least one is required
  • A sense of humor and a sense of humility
  • Prior experience with building, operating, validating, and scaling low-latency internet services is a bonus
  • Experience with building and shipping cloud-connected endpoint software is a bonus
  • Solid grounding in at least one cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a bonus
  • Exposure to or experience with cybersecurity and intelligence is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate our CI/CD pipeline, using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • Develop an end-to-end validation pipeline, largely from scratch, leveraging existing frameworks and tooling where possible
  • Verify component, system integration, and application-level features and functionality to ensure reliability, accuracy, and performance meet our quality standards
  • Participate in code and design reviews and provide technical guidance and feedback to team members
  • Review engineering technical design documents and requirements
  • Provide guidance and strategy on how and where to build in testability
  • Engage in continuous improvement of our end-to-end test and validation processes
  • Increase and improve our automated test coverage, and contribute to existing tools, frameworks, and related solutions
  • Leverage new open source solutions to build new tools that test things in new ways
  • Improve our delivered product quality across our platform and applications
  • Collaborate on determining root causes of production outages and add quality improvements to prevent future outages
  • Work across processing, data, and customer-facing application layers to support low-latency prevention of malware, high event throughput, and large-scale data querying
  • Travel for in-person meetings when required
