Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements

  • We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • We need strong adaptability to new technologies and processes, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • We need strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • We require excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence peers and senior leaders.
  • We need a self-starter who can handle ambiguity, navigate uncertainty, identify risks, and find the right people and tools to get the job done.
  • We need skill in at least one programming language, such as C#, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, or React Native, for cross-platform solutions.
  • We need experience writing secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects.
  • We need strong systems design capability and experience in software development, especially platform or service engineering.
  • We require familiarity with software engineering practices across the full development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operations.
  • We need experience designing and building complex software systems end to end that have been delivered and operated in production.
  • We need understanding of security and privacy guidelines, as well as production monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • We need skill in building and scaling infrastructure services using Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
  • We need knowledge of cloud infrastructure services, including identity platforms, networking, storage, databases, containers, and serverless technologies.
  • We need experience solving large-scale distributed production systems.
  • We need demonstrable experience supporting production systems through on-call rotations.
  • We need strong knowledge of databases, including relational, graph, document, and key-value databases.
  • We need experience in data modeling and database design.
  • We need SQL proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • We act as a technical authority, mentor, and coach, providing guidance and support to our team.
  • We set project and squad goals, prioritize and complete initiatives, and deliver results in a product-led, empowered environment.
  • We design and document sophisticated software components, services, and platforms.
  • We implement robust, maintainable code with clear documentation.
  • We deliver customer value iteratively while building longer-term systems to achieve roadmap goals more efficiently.
  • We serve as a technical lead and own projects end to end.
  • We communicate status changes and keep all interested parties informed of progress and updates.
  • We design test automation for implemented code through unit and integration testing.
  • We work with internal and external teams to bring new platforms to market.
  • We maintain and enhance software frameworks for development.
  • We mentor other engineers on the team.
  • We participate in code reviews and help develop engineering guidelines.
  • We collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve platform-related issues.
  • We support internal and external audit teams for security, software licensing, and regulatory audits.
  • We collaborate on implementing new controls and procedures to address compliance gaps or risks.
