Job Description
Salary: £40,000 - 65,000 per year
Requirements
- We require strong end-to-end service design experience within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- We require proven experience working within Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and frameworks.
- We require hands-on delivery across the GDS agile lifecycle, particularly Beta and Live services.
- We require the ability to use research and data to inform design decisions and shape service outcomes.
- We require experience designing inclusive, accessible services in line with accessibility standards.
- We require confident communication of complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- We require strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- We require experience working in multidisciplinary teams including product, delivery, and policy.
- We require the ability to apply iterative design approaches, including prototyping and continuous improvement.
- We require experience leading or mentoring others and promoting user-centred design best practice.
- We require eligibility for SC clearance.
- We prefer active SC clearance.
- We prefer experience designing services within border, customs, or goods movement environments, ideally with exposure to Border Force.
Responsibilities
- We will develop service design concepts with service managers and programme leaders.
- We will lead or contribute across complex end-to-end services, covering both operational change and technical projects.
- We will use evidence and user insight to inform key design decisions.
- We will streamline end-to-end user journeys for frontline staff such as border officers and caseworkers, as well as citizens.
- We will collaborate across teams and engage stakeholders in different operational settings.
- We will work with minimal support while influencing direction and mentoring others.
- We will shape design concepts, contribute to complex services, and embed best practice across teams.
- We will occasionally travel to alternative sites, including operational locations.
