Requirements

• We require proven experience in data engineering, with demonstrable architecture and technical leadership experience.
• We require direct, hands-on expertise with dbt.
• We require deep proficiency across the Microsoft data stack, including Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory.
• We require working knowledge of Databricks.
• We require working knowledge of AWS environments, including Redshift and RDS.
• We require a solid grounding in database technologies, API architecture, data warehousing principles, and standard ETL/ELT patterns.
• We require candidates to be UK-based with full right to work in the UK.
• We require prior experience leading or mentoring delivery teams in a technical capacity.

Responsibilities

• We lead core data engineering and architecture initiatives, setting technical direction and best practice.
• We provide technical leadership to a delivery team.
• We design and build scalable, cloud-native data pipelines and integration workflows.
• We apply hands-on expertise with dbt across transformation and modelling work.

We are offering a Lead Data Engineer contract role on a rate of £400 per day, outside IR35, initially for 3 months with a strong intention to extend. The role is remote-first with occasional travel into London as required. This is a hands-on senior position where we are looking for someone who can balance building scalable data solutions with guiding the engineers delivering them.
