Requirements
- Engineering or science degree.
- Substantial experience, 10+ years, delivering high-integrity systems engineering projects in a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle, including requirements management, system specification, verification and validation, and systems integration.
- Experience in customer-facing systems engineering lead roles delivering safety-critical systems.
- Proven ability to build strong customer relationships, manage stakeholders, and lead teams to deliver high-value outcomes.
- Hands-on experience with stakeholder management, requirements management, authoring natural language specifications, MBSE using SysML or UML, and systems integration.
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously in collaborative, multi-disciplinary environments.
- Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills.
- Desirable: experience in Air Traffic Management systems.
- Desirable: proficiency with Sparx Enterprise Architect.
- Desirable: experience using SysML or UML.
- Desirable: professional Systems Engineering certification such as INCOSE CSEP or ESEP, or a clear desire to work towards it.
- Desirable: Chartered Engineer status, or active progress toward chartership.
Responsibilities
- Work with our customer and industry partners on a programme of national importance to support and improve UK ATM infrastructure.
- Explore and understand our customers domain, needs, and programme, including legacy systems, systems context, and target value.
- Act as a proactive senior systems engineering lead, defining and planning the systems engineering needed to derive definitive specifications from high-level requirements.
- Lead a small, multi-disciplined team of systems engineers and domain and engineering specialists.
- Serve as the engineering point of contact for aspects of the problem and solution.
- Engage with stakeholders and specialists at a range of organisational levels.
- Manage team delivery to quality, schedule, and budget.
- Perform hands-on systems engineering work.
- Analyse and model large data sets, documents, and legacy systems with the help of AI LLM assistants.
- Specify solutions and establish traceability using our ISO 15288-aligned requirements and MBSE frameworks.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary team to specify and integrate complex safety-critical systems.
- Understand and evaluate ATM operational processes and use cases, as well as non-functional system properties such as safety, security, reliability, maintainability, and usability.
- Develop strong client relationships and domain knowledge.
- Use collaborative ways of working and mentor team members.

We are recruiting for a Systems Engineer role on a 9-month contract, offering up to £825 per day via umbrella inside IR35. The role is remote, with some expectation to travel to our client site in Whiteley and our Bath office. This is a customer-facing opportunity on a programme of national importance, supporting and improving UK ATM infrastructure. The position requires BPSS clearance. We offer the chance to grow and take on responsibility from day one in a challenging and rewarding environment, working with our customer and industry partners on complex, safety-critical systems.
