Salary: £60,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

  • We are looking for engineers with experience in one or more of the following: defence, military or secure government environments; radio frequency systems and secure communications; Cisco networking, routing and switching; Windows Server (2016/2019/2022); VMware ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V; LAN, WAN and VLAN networking; encryption and cryptographic equipment; hardware installation, fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance; customer-facing technical support; configuration, release and change management.
  • HNC/HND or degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, with occasional international travel.
  • Eligible to obtain SC and DV Security Clearance.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.
  • Previous service in the Royal Air Force, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME, or similar defence communications and engineering roles is particularly encouraged.
  • We are interested in candidates with equivalent commercial experience as well.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and configure secure networking and communications equipment.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, firmware upgrades and system health checks.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and infrastructure faults through structured root cause analysis.
  • Install and support Windows Server environments, virtualisation platforms and secure network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support during customer trials, demonstrations and military exercises.
  • Deliver technical training to operators and maintainers.
  • Provide remote 1st and 2nd line support when required.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, maintenance reports and knowledge base articles.
  • Support software deployments, configuration management and hardware lifecycle activities.
  • Work closely with engineering, logistics and project teams to deliver outstanding customer support.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, 1 week in 4.
