Backend Software Engineer

Salary: £33,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements

• We have demonstrable experience in at least 4 of the following technologies:
• Java 8+
• Spring or Spring Boot frameworks
• Designing and developing RESTful microservices
• Writing unit and integration tests
• CI/CD, including build tools such as Jenkins, Groovy/Gradle, or Maven
• AWS, Docker containers, and associated tooling
• We have demonstrable experience in at least 3 of the following practices and design patterns:
• Server-side and front-end coding
• Programming best practices such as Clean Code and SOLID
• Continuous integration and continuous delivery principles
• Microservice design patterns
• We have demonstrable experience in at least 3 of the following bridging skills:
• Translating technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management, and service management
• Speaking on behalf of technical and development teams and facilitating stakeholder relationships
• Sharing knowledge and mentoring colleagues, potentially including non-technical colleagues
• Proficiency in Java, particularly Spring Boot, and JavaScript would be advantageous
• Knowledge of multiple JavaScript frameworks and tools such as React, Angular, Vue, NodeJS, Redux, TypeScript, Webpack, or Jest
• Working experience with MySQL-compatible databases such as MySQL, RDS, Aurora, or MariaDB
• Experience with Docker, Bash, or shell scripting

Responsibilities

We are a public sector client working with Harvey Nash, and we are recruiting a Back-End Software Engineer for an initial 6-month contract based in Glasgow with remote working.
