Remote Senior Backend Engineer - Grafana Search & Storage

Salary: £43,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements

• We want someone located in the UK, Germany, Spain, Ireland, or Sweden.
• Solid experience with the Go programming language.
• Demonstrated experience working with large distributed systems.
• Experience delivering projects from gathering requirements and brainstorming ideas through to shipping a product in a self-driven way.
• Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software that is maintainable by others.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a fully remote environment.
• Independent attitude and good communication skills are essential for remote-first work.
• Bonus: experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles.
• Bonus: familiarity with on-call work, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Drive projects from ideation through to operations once customers are using them.
• Contribute to other open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems with ownership of reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you run.
• Mentor and support other team members.
• Participate in design discussions and collaborate closely with the team.
• Learn new skills by deepening your understanding of our cloud product, our customers, and our distributed codebase.
