IT Operations Engineer

Salary: £24,000 - 64,000 per year

Requirements

• We need solid problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• We need in-depth experience supporting the Windows desktop environment and Microsoft 365 suite.
• We need confidence in fault diagnosis across technologies and platforms, with experience resolving faults within established SLAs.
• We need experience working in a change-managed environment.
• We need the ability to act as the technical point of contact for incident escalation.
• We need experience creating technical documentation.
• We need the ability to translate business and operational requirements into effective solutions.
• Experience with Windows Server 2016 through 2022 is desirable.
• Experience with Intune, Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, Power Platform, Entra ID, Azure Cloud Services, HubSpot, or MRI is desirable.

Responsibilities

• We assist the development of departmental service improvements and support our existing IT systems and infrastructure landscape.
• We work on strengthening the security culture across Bidwells by understanding vulnerabilities, threats, and cyber security.
• We take a lead role in at least one core business system and ensure we have sufficient training and knowledge to cover other team members where required.
• We plan and undertake project work, including design and service improvement work.
• We create and maintain technical documentation.
• We support infrastructure and systems operations across all sites.
• We ensure patch management systems are robust.
• We administer Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, HubSpot, the MRI Suite, and Citrix.
• We administer, renew, and upgrade systems in line with industry and security requirements, including Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, as well as firm policy.
• We test and onboard new systems and infrastructure.
• We identify and record risks in the IT risk register and create mitigation plans where appropriate.
• We work with our MSP to ensure the hosted estate and LAN/WAN infrastructure are up to date and performing correctly.
• We provide technical support through Incident, Change, and Problem Management procedures.
• We work with the Service Delivery Team and other vendors to ensure escalated tickets are handled correctly.
• We coordinate analysis and troubleshooting of system and application issues to determine root cause and support future prevention.
• We monitor and respond to security incidents using tools such as Microsoft Defender and SIEM.
• We manage vulnerabilities within required timelines.
• We contribute to the development of our security culture.
• We act as a point of escalation for complex incidents and ensure timely, effective resolution.
• We deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and clear communication.
• We log, prioritise, and manage incidents and service requests through our ITSM platform, keeping users informed.
• We contribute to the creation and maintenance of IT policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
