2nd & 3rd Line Network Engineer – LAN & Wi-Fi

Salary: £37,000 - 77,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for proven experience in a 2nd / 3rd line network engineering role.
• We need strong knowledge of LAN and Wi-Fi technologies.
• We require solid understanding of switching and VLANs, wireless standards (802.11), network security fundamentals, and troubleshooting complex network issues.
• We value experience supporting network-related projects alongside BAU support.
• We are looking for experience in customer environments, such as MSP or enterprise settings.
• Relevant certifications, such as Aruba, Cisco, or equivalent, are preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Aruba networking products, including Aruba Wireless Access Points and Switches, Aruba Airwave, Aruba Central, and Aruba ClearPass, is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex network incidents, primarily related to wired and wireless infrastructure.
• Manage and progress fault tickets through to resolution within agreed SLAs.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Produce clear technical notes, incident reports, and documentation.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
• Assist with the design, implementation, and optimisation of LAN and WLAN solutions.
• Carry out network changes in line with change management processes.
• Participate in customer meetings, both remote and on-site, to discuss incidents, designs, and improvements.

We are an established company based in Edinburgh, offering a permanent opportunity for an experienced 2nd / 3rd Line Network Engineer with a focus on LAN and Wi-Fi, particularly Aruba technologies. This is a predominantly home-based role with occasional travel to our Edinburgh office and customer sites, primarily within Scotland, when required. We offer a salary of up to £55,000 per year, depending on experience, and the opportunity to work on both support and project activity in a customer-facing environment.
