Requirements
- Proven, extensive hands-on experience designing, deploying and operating the Dynatrace Observability platform across enterprise environments.
- Typically 5+ years in observability, monitoring or APM disciplines, with at least 3 years of deep, hands-on Dynatrace delivery.
- Strong experience producing observability architecture and design documentation and leading technical implementation within structured, phased programmes.
- Working knowledge of the Dynatrace API and Workflows for automation, integration and data extraction.
- Awareness of data-protection considerations in observability tooling, including handling of PII in ingested telemetry and use of data-masking or pipeline controls.
- Familiarity with the wider observability ecosystem and associated technologies, including:
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google Cloud Platform.
- Containers and orchestration: Kubernetes, OpenShift and Docker.
- Operating systems: Linux and Windows Server.
- Telemetry and observability signals: OpenTelemetry (OTEL), application performance monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring, log monitoring, real user monitoring (RUM) and synthetic monitoring.
- ITSM integration, with strong ServiceNow knowledge for incident and problem management.
- CI/CD and automation tooling such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, Ansible or Terraform.
- Scripting for automation and data extraction: Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
- Core networking concepts: firewalls, ports, proxies, DNS and TLS.
- Strong knowledge of Agentic AI technologies and autonomous operations principles.
- Hold at least one Dynatrace certification appropriate to the level of the role, with professional-level certification strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams and take day-to-day ownership of delivery within a structured, phased programme.
- Strong workshop and kickoff facilitation skills, engaging directly with customer stakeholders to gather requirements and validate configuration.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication for customer status reporting and technical documentation.
- Comfortable coordinating with third-party suppliers and working within formal change-control processes.
- Organised and self-sufficient; able to manage concurrent workstreams across multiple client engagements.
Responsibilities
- Lead observability solution design and architecture, producing High Level Design, Low Level Design and Technical Design documentation.
- Own end-to-end deployment of the Dynatrace platform, including OneAgent, Environment ActiveGate and OpenTelemetry collector or agent deployment and configuration.
- Design and configure dashboards, alerting profiles and segments, problem notifications and workflows, tagging, process monitoring, synthetic monitors and SLOs.
- Implement Dynatrace log management and custom event modelling, including log buckets and retention, log events, custom metrics and business events derived from logs.
- Build automation and integrations using the Dynatrace API and Dynatrace Workflows, including integration with ITSM tooling for incident and problem management.
- Act as the technical lead on client engagements, running kickoffs and requirement-gathering workshops, managing customer stakeholder relationships and providing regular status reporting.
- Support the ongoing operation, health and tuning of deployed environments, and contribute to managed or retained observability support services.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior consultants, and develop and deliver training and enablement sessions to customer teams.

We are expanding our Dynatrace Observability Practice and are seeking an experienced Senior Observability Consultant to lead the design and deployment of the Dynatrace platform for a UK client. This is a senior, client-facing, hands-on technical leadership role covering architecture, implementation, ongoing operation and optimisation, while mentoring junior consultants and acting as the technical point of contact for customer stakeholders.
