Senior Automation Engineer (Remote - United States)We are a leading food manufacturing organization committed to delivering high‑quality products that support everyday moments-whether at home, in schools, restaurants, or retail environments.
Our portfolio includes well‑established consumer brands spanning frozen foods, global cuisine, and desserts, all built on a foundation of quality, innovation, and operational excellence.We are hiring a Senior Automation Engineer to work remotely anywhere in the United States.
In this role, you will leverage prior experience on large‑scale automation initiatives to execute highly complex capital automation projects within manufacturing facilities.
Projects are already defined and focused specifically on transforming manual production lines into fully automated platforms, including work at a new, large‑scale manufacturing facility currently under development.What You Will DoLead Electrical Controls ProjectsProvide engineering leadership for corporate and plant capital projects.Own the design, implementation, and execution of electrical control and automation systems.Strategic Automation DevelopmentDevelop and implement long‑term strategies for controls standards, network architecture, and plant‑floor systems to drive efficiency, scalability, and innovation.Cross‑Functional CollaborationPartner closely with project teams and internal stakeholders (IT, EHS, Supply Chain, Operations, etc.) to deploy advanced automation technologies and drive measurable business improvements.Mentorship & Team DevelopmentMentor plant engineers and automation teams, emphasizing technical excellence, leadership growth, and effective change management.Capital Planning & ExecutionLead long‑range capital planning efforts related to automation.Manage equipment obsolescence and ensure projects meet budget, performance, and timeline expectations.Technology AdvancementStay current on automation, controls, and manufacturing technology trends.Recommend and implement solutions that improve equipment performance, product quality, and overall safety.What We Look ForBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (ABET‑accredited program preferred)7+ years of manufacturing experience, with 5+ years focused on electrical and controls engineeringPrior experience in food & beverage or consumer packaged goods manufacturing is requiredStrong understanding of:Controls and machinery safety systemsIndustrial robotics (FANUC, ABB, or similar platforms)Industrial power distribution systemsAbility to troubleshoot Allen‑Bradley PLCs at the code level, including wiring and equipment diagnosticsExperience with SCADA development and programming (Ignition preferred)Strong working knowledge of:Processing, packaging, and facility systemsFood manufacturing standards, sanitary design, engineering, quality, and R&D functionsWillingness to travel approximately 30%, primarily to manufacturing facilities and corporate locations
