Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Operations

Marqeta is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Operations to help build and scale our foundational compute infrastructure. You will define and deliver well-scoped milestones for projects and may serve as a technical lead for projects on your team.

You will actively keep customer needs in mind and work with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver technical solutions that provide value quickly. We work Flexible First.

Learn more about our Product and Engineering team The Impact You'll Have Design, build, and maintain highly available Kubernetes infrastructure at scaleLead design for small-medium components/features and participate in design for larger components/featuresHave significant ownership of a component/feature of the compute platformContribute to architecture decisions for container orchestration and cloud-native servicesMentor engineers on Kubernetes best practices, container security, and cloud infrastructureDevelop automation tools and improve CI/CD pipelines for containerized applicationsCollaborate with platform and application teams to optimize workload performanceDrive initiatives to improve system reliability, observability, and disaster recoveryParticipate in on-call rotation and incident responseWho You Are 5+ years of software engineering experience3+ years of hands-on production experience with KubernetesStrong understanding of container technologies (Docker, containerd)Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm, or similar)Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java)Deep knowledge of networking, security, and distributed systemsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)Strong communication and collaboration skillsNice to haves Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd)Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)Experience in fintech or payments industryContributions to open-source Kubernetes ecosystemOur (typical) process: Application submissionRecruiter video callHiring Manager InterviewVirtual “Onsite” consisting of three 45 - 60 min callsOffer!Compensation and Benefits Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is: National: $144,100 - $180,100We also believe in recognizing the contributions of our people.
