DevSecOps Engineer - UK

Salary: £38,000 - 68,000 per year

Requirements

• We need proven technical leadership experience establishing DevSecOps ways of working for distributed or hybrid teams while remaining deeply hands-on.
• We need deep production experience with modern CI/CD and GitOps tools, including GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and Argo Rollouts.
• We need strong hands-on cloud-native engineering experience with containers and orchestration, including Docker and AWS EKS, plus Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• We need hands-on experience with security and observability tooling such as Trivy, HashiCorp Vault, cert-manager, Grafana, and Loki.
• We need expert scripting skills in Python and Bash, along with strong cloud networking fundamentals, including IAM, S3, and network policies.
• We need proven experience delivering within the Government Digital Service lifecycle on a UK public sector engagement.
• We strongly prefer candidates with an active MOD SC Clearance; minimum BPSS is required to start, with SC processing required.
• We need the ability to travel to our client and consultancy sites in London and/or the Bristol/Bath area around 1 day per week, with potentially more travel during critical delivery phases.

Responsibilities

• We will have you drive, coordinate, and scale DevSecOps practices across a high-profile digital transformation programme within the UK Defence sector.
• We will have you act as a technical anchor in a hands-on and leading-others contract role.
• We will have you rapidly evaluate, design, and improve secure, automated CI/CD and GitOps pipelines across multiple integrated product teams.
• We will have you integrate automated security scanning into build and deployment workflows and manage the vulnerability lifecycle, including allowlist processes and pragmatic risk acceptance.
• We will have you standardise secrets management, identity and access management, and policy enforcement across AWS, Azure, and OCI workloads.
• We will have you partner with developers, infrastructure engineers, and testers to embed secure-by-design principles from day one.
• We will have you ensure robust logging, monitoring, and audit controls are operating across all environments using cloud-native tools.
• We will have you author and maintain clear security processes, controls, and operational runbooks in Confluence to unify distributed engineering teams.

We are a technology consultancy seeking an experienced, client-facing Lead DevSecOps Engineer for an immediate contract engagement running until March 2027. This is a hybrid role that is predominantly remote, with around 1 day per week on site in London and/or Bristol/Bath. The engagement is inside IR35 and offers a rate of £600.00 to £650.00 per day. We work across a multi-cloud estate spanning AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and this role will support a major digital transformation programme in the UK Defence sector.
