We are seeking a Senior Azure Synapse Data Engineer and Data Modeller to lead data ingestion and modeling efforts within a large-scale analytics environment. The project focuses on leveraging Azure Synapse Analytics and Data Vault methodologies to deliver robust, business-critical data solutions.

Your tasks

• Create and build data ingestion pipelines using Azure Synapse Pipelines, Azure Functions, and Synapse Notebooks

• Develop scripts in Python or PySpark for automation

• Extract data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, flat files, and other cloud or on-premise systems

• Maintain and optimize Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools for data storage and analytical queries

• Manage code using Git for source control and CI/CD, ensuring consistent and governed deployment of pipelines and artifacts across environments

• Automate failure handling, alerts, and retries to minimize operational overhead

• Collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure that data meets business needs and is delivered on time

• Provide technical troubleshooting, issue resolution, and continuous support for data delivery pipelines

• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and development guidelines

• Document processes and data flows for transparency and knowledge sharing

• Identify opportunities for standardization and automate data maintenance processes

• Foster a data-driven culture and advocate for the benefits of data management

• Engage with leadership and functional leads to ensure alignment and support

Must have competences

• 8+ years of experience in Azure Synapse Analytics, specifically involving pipelines, notebooks, and SQL pools

• Expertise in Data Vault data modeling and methodology

• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, including architecture, management, and security

• Proficiency in Python and PySpark for data processing and automation

• Advanced skills in T-SQL for complex queries and procedures

• Extensive experience in the development of ETL/ELT workflows using modern orchestration tools

• Experience with RESTful API design and integration

• Knowledge of Azure Functions and Logic Apps for event-driven and serverless solutions

• Strong understanding of security protocols, including Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, and Key Vault

• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics

Nice to have competences

• Experience with Databricks

• Familiarity with ServiceNow APIs

• Experience in CI/CD and GitHub Actions

• Knowledge of PowerShell, YAML, and Azure CLI

Additional information

The assignment is planned to be 100% remote. The project language is English.
