IT Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 35,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong experience in Windows Server environments, including IIS, Print/File Services, and Terminal Services
• Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, networking, firewalls, switches, and core IT security principles
• Proven ability to deliver effective support both remotely and in person
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users
• HNC, HND, or degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, combined with relevant practical experience
• Familiarity with Cisco Meraki, CCNA, network CLIs, or advanced networking is desirable
• Exposure to Azure Data Studio, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, Metabase, GitHub, or VS Code is desirable
• Knowledge of virtual desktop infrastructure, ZPL/label printing, SSH/CLI, or BI reporting is desirable
• Experience with the FIA framework or formal IT documentation control is desirable

Responsibilities

• Deliver first- and second-line IT support on site and remotely for hardware, software, and network issues
• Manage and maintain Windows and Ubuntu servers, Active Directory, VMware/vSphere, and Veeam backup solutions
• Support Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and end-user applications
• Manage and configure network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, printers, and endpoints
• Work with technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, Synology DSM, Fortinet FortiOS, Certero, and Axonius
• Collaborate effectively with head office and branch teams via Microsoft Teams
• Document processes in Confluence, create database queries, and maintain system records
• Ensure hardware and software availability and promote good security practices

We are a well-established manufacturing business based in Wrexham, North Wales, and we are looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join our supportive team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a varied, hands-on role offering the opportunity to support a broad range of IT systems and infrastructure across multiple sites while helping maintain reliable, secure, and efficient IT operations that directly support our manufacturing activities. We offer a salary of £35,000 per annum plus excellent benefits, and this role is commutable from Chester, Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Cheshire, Shropshire, and North West England.
