PowerServer Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong experience with PowerBuilder and PowerServer
• Proven experience in application auditing, system analysis, or consulting roles
• Solid understanding of client-server and web-based architectures
• Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
• Ability to analyze legacy systems and recommend modernization approaches
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Experience with application migration (on-prem to cloud or web) is preferred
• Familiarity with Appeon PowerServer is preferred
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is preferred
• Knowledge of security and compliance standards is preferred
• Prior consulting or advisory experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive audits and assessments of existing PowerServer and PowerBuilder applications
• Conduct root cause analysis and investigate performance, stability, and scalability issues
• Analyze application architecture, deployment setup, and integration workflows
• Identify technical risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
• Prepare detailed assessment reports, findings, and recommendations
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define modernization or migration strategy
• Create roadmaps and implementation plans for future upgrades or enhancements
• Provide guidance on best practices, security, and performance optimization
• Support decision-making through technical insights and feasibility analysis

We are seeking an experienced PowerServer Engineer to support audit, investigation, and strategic planning activities for our existing PowerBuilder and PowerServer applications. You will join us in London on a hybrid basis, working 60% in the office and 40% remotely, on a contract running until 30/11/2026. We are looking for someone who can assess our current systems, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization, modernization, or migration. The role includes delivering a system audit report, risk and gap analysis, recommendations for improvement, and a strategic roadmap and execution plan. Please note that the rate is £257 and the role must be PAYE through umbrella.
