Salary: £111,280 - 111,280 per year

Requirements

• We require candidates to already hold current SC Clearance and NPPV3.
• We are looking for at least 2-3 years of working experience with Java, ideally Java SE 11, with Java 8 also relevant.
• We need experience working with legacy or monolithic applications.
• We require strong knowledge of the Spring framework.
• We are looking for experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL development.
• We need familiarity with WebLogic or similar application servers.
• We require experience using JDBC/ODBC for database connectivity.
• Exposure to EJB/JSP is desirable.
• Experience with Elasticsearch development or support is required.
• Proven testing experience for Java and PL/SQL applications is required.

Responsibilities

• We provide Level 3 support for a business-critical national system.
• We troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve production issues.
• We maintain, enhance, and support legacy Java-based applications.
• We develop, refactor, and implement automated tests.
• We design, build, and test Java and PL/SQL programs and scripts.
• We work with Oracle databases, developing and supporting PL/SQL.
• We integrate with auditing and monitoring or protective services.
• We contribute to technical discussions and continuous improvement.

We are building a team to support and maintain a critical national policing system used across the UK. This is a 12-month contract inside IR35, mainly remote with onsite attendance once a month in Bridgend or Reading. The role is highly collaborative and involves working closely with Support, Platform, and DBA teams to ensure system stability, implement enhancements, and resolve complex technical issues.
