Senior IT Technician

Salary: £38,000 - 42,000 per year

Requirements

• Extensive experience in an MSP or customer-facing IT support environment
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows Server
• Solid experience with networking, firewalls, backup, and disaster recovery
• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organisational skills
• A full UK driving licence
• Microsoft certifications
• Experience with Watchguard, HP, Threatlocker or Huntress
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Familiarity with ConnectWise Manage / Asio

Responsibilities

• Providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support across telephone, remote access, email, and ticketing systems
• Diagnosing and resolving complex IT incidents, acting as the go-to escalation point for 1st line technicians and apprentices
• Planning and delivering customer infrastructure projects end-to-end, from initial scoping through to handover
• Installing and supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, and Hyper-V environments, plus networking, firewalls, Wi-Fi, backup, and cyber security solutions
• Carrying out site surveys, migrations, upgrades, and technical assessments
• Building strong customer relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor
• Mentoring junior engineers and apprentices, and championing best practice across the team

We are recruiting for a Senior IT Technician based in Barnsley, with travel to customer sites. This is a full-time, permanent role for 37.5 hours per week, offering a salary of £38,000 to £42,000 per annum depending on experience. The role combines advanced service desk support with hands-on project delivery, including infrastructure projects, system deployments, and technology upgrades at customer sites.
