Platform Engineer

Salary: £80,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills with depth in at least one language and a clear point of view on stacks, tooling, and trade-offs.
• Experience with Java, C#, Python, TypeScript, or Go.
• Solid hands-on experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience running containerised workloads in production.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as CloudFormation/CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi.
• Confidence building pipelines that hold up under real production load.
• Track record of building tooling or automation that other engineers rely on day to day.
• Strong communication skills.
• Desirable: AWS experience, GitHub Actions, hands-on continuous release, progressive delivery, or production observability.

Responsibilities

• Design and build internal tooling, templates, and scaffolding that make the right way the easy way for engineering teams across the business.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that are robust, fast, and production-ready.
• Reduce friction for every team that depends on the pipelines.
• Treat developer experience as a product by gathering feedback from engineers, identifying pain points, and iterating toward solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Own test architecture by defining and embedding standards for unit, integration, and contract testing across the platform.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to surface ideas, take on feedback, and shape the direction of the platform engineering function.
