Cyber Specialist

Salary: £35,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements

• We require a minimum of 3 years of proven IT/information security and risk consulting experience in organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
• We require experience of ICT programme delivery consulting approaches and security solution architecture principles, gained through direct experience of solutions delivery in similar sized organisations.
• We require experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
• We require experience in producing, or contributing to, design documentation such as HLDs, LLDs and blueprints, supporting cloud architecture design, implementation and operations.
• We require strong knowledge and the ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, including mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls.
• We require all applicants to be eligible to undergo NPPV3 and SC vetting clearances, and we require NPPV3 clearance before starting with us.

Responsibilities

• We provide specialist advice, reporting and assurance to principal stakeholders within our organisation, policing and the Home Office.
• We support implementation of our Cyber Services strategy, roadmaps and business plans, bids and business cases to help us and police forces achieve short, medium and long-term objectives.
• We monitor security, technological, social and scientific trends that could influence National Policing policy, our consulting approach and our cyber services.
• We ensure outcomes and benefits are maximised from people, process and technology investments that improve policing outcomes, supporting our role in delivering the National Digital Policing Strategy 2020–30.
• We advise on technical and procedural governance, control systems, standards and procedures so that policy and consultancy decision making meets business objectives and complies with legal, regulatory and policy requirements.
• We build strong relationships with National Policing Programme personnel and key stakeholders across policing to support effective delivery of cyber specialist activities.
• We provide technical and security input and recommendations to Design Authorities and Information Security and Risk groups when reviewing and reporting risks, helping provide clear visibility of local and national risk exposure to policing.
