Database Engineer

Salary: £31,500 - 49,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong experience with Azure SQL and complex relational database design
• Advanced T-SQL skills, including stored procedures and performance tuning
• Experience across OLTP and OLAP data models
• Expertise in security, scaling, cost optimisation and database maintenance
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines, such as Azure Data Factory and dbt
• Knowledge of Power BI-optimised data models and reporting performance
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers
• Ability to produce clear documentation covering data models and architectural decisions

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise scalable, high-performance SQL database architectures
• Own and improve stored procedures, reusable scripts and database standards
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews
• Deliver clear documentation covering data models and architectural decisions
• Drive database-focused projects through to delivery
• Support the performance, security and maintenance of our database platforms
• Work on the data infrastructure supporting SaaS applications, reporting environments and client billing systems

We are a global professional services organisation with a technology team responsible for designing, optimising and maintaining the high-performance database platforms that support our SaaS applications, reporting environments and client billing systems. This is a hybrid role based in Manchester, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote in line with our company policy. The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, and offers the opportunity to contribute to important database-focused projects within a collaborative environment.
