Requirements

• Strong AWS design experience, particularly within data platforms
• Containerisation and orchestration experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Exposure to infrastructure tooling such as GitHub and Terraform
• Systems design and feature design expertise
• Knowledge of identity and access management
• Experience troubleshooting complex technical environments
• Ability to create system diagrams and technical documentation
• Strong collaboration, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Familiarity with Civil Service ways of working is desirable
• Active or recently lapsed SC clearance that is transferable

Responsibilities

• Design and support delivery of data platform solutions within an AWS environment
• Focus on feature design and systems design rather than hands-on coding
• Work collaboratively across teams in a Civil Service setting
• Assess, categorise, and allocate work across teams
• Create system diagrams and technical documentation
• Troubleshoot complex technical environments
• Engage stakeholders and coordinate with internal teams

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect for a hybrid role with a flexible base in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Darlington, Edinburgh, Manchester, or London Whitehall. Our working pattern offers fully flexible onsite requirements with potential for remote working, plus occasional travel for key meetings and away days. This is a 9-month contract inside IR35 at a rate of £650–£675 per day.
