Data & AI Lead

Salary: £65,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for several years of experience in a data role, with a track record of delivering measurable business impact.
• We want someone who has operated as a functional lead or sole practitioner, owning a discipline end-to-end and being accountable for outcomes.
• We require hands-on technical experience with SQL and data modelling, such as dbt or equivalent.
• We require experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Redshift.
• We require experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI, or Metabase.
• We require experience with ingestion and pipeline tools such as Fivetran, Airbyte, or custom-built solutions.
• We need a natural problem-solver who can embed into an operational domain and shape data-led solutions.
• We want someone able to prioritise based on business value rather than technical interest.
• We require practical exposure to applying AI in a business context and curiosity about where AI is heading.
• We need an excellent communicator who can translate complex ideas for non-technical audiences.
• We want someone genuinely interested in our mission and the people we build products for.
• We value significant experience in data, analytics, or analytics engineering roles, with a track record of building capability and delivering measurable business impact.
• Experience working within a SaaS or scaling technology business is nice to have.
• Exposure to building or evolving a modern data stack in an earlier-stage or greenfield environment is nice to have.
• Experience working alongside external consultants, implementation partners, or specialist advisors is nice to have.

Responsibilities

• We will have you work cross-functionally to understand how teams operate and identify where data can unlock value.
• We will rely on you to own and execute our data strategy and roadmap with our Head of Finance & Operations and external consultants.
• We will have you build and maintain our data platform, pipelines, and warehouse so data remains accurate, accessible, and well-governed.
• We will expect you to lead reporting, analytics, and business intelligence across the organisation.
• We will ask you to establish and maintain clear data definitions, governance, and standards so we work from a single source of truth.
• We will look to you to introduce self-serve analytics and tooling so teams can answer their own questions.
• We will want you to build data literacy across the business and help colleagues draw better insights from data.
• We will have you establish sensible, lightweight AI governance and responsible-use practices.
• We will ask you to work with external consultants to shape and deliver our AI roadmap.
• We will expect you to identify and prioritise practical AI use cases across internal, commercial, and operational workflows.
• We will rely on you to build our internal AI maturity through tooling, ways of working, and team education.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who wants to shape how data and AI evolve in a scaling business. The salary is £65,000 to £75,000 depending on experience. You will be based in our modern office next to Temple Meads Station in Bristol, with 2+ in-person days per week, and the role is hybrid remote in Bristol BS1 6QA.
