Job Description

Our client, a pioneering company in the automotive technology sector, is seeking a highly skilled Remote Automotive Software Engineer specializing in Embedded Systems to contribute to the development of next-generation in-vehicle infotainment and control systems.

This is a fully remote position, ideal for an experienced engineer passionate about automotive innovation and proficient in embedded software development. As an Automotive Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software for automotive applications.

You will work on critical components such as real-time operating systems (RTOS), sensor fusion, communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), and user interface development.

This role requires a strong understanding of automotive industry standards, a meticulous approach to coding and debugging, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a globally distributed engineering team.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement embedded software for automotive ECUs (Electronic Control Units) using C/C++. Develop and maintain real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers for embedded automotive hardware.

Implement and optimize communication protocols, including CAN, LIN, automotive Ethernet, and FlexRay. Develop software for infotainment systems, digital cockpits, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and other in-vehicle applications.

Write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices and coding standards. Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system testing to ensure software quality and reliability. Debug complex software issues and provide timely resolutions.

Collaborate with hardware engineers, system engineers, and other software developers to define software requirements and architecture. Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) and participate in code reviews.

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in automotive software development, embedded systems, and related technologies. Contribute to the definition of software architecture and design patterns.

Ensure compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) where applicable. Troubleshoot and resolve software defects found during testing or in production.

Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in embedded software development. Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming languages.

Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, QNX, or VxWorks. Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet). Experience with automotive software development tools and methodologies.

Knowledge of embedded hardware and microcontrollers. Familiarity with software development tools like Git, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly in a remote team setting. Experience with automotive infotainment systems or ADAS is a plus. Understanding of automotive cybersecurity principles is a plus.
