Full Stack Developer (Ruby on Rails / React)

Salary: £30,000 - 30,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong Ruby on Rails experience in production, not just tutorials
• React frontend skills and genuine care for UI/UX quality
• Mobile app experience with iOS and Android, using React Native, Flutter, or native development
• Product-minded approach rather than only ticket-based delivery
• Comfortable working with ambiguity, being honest about knowledge gaps, and learning quickly
• UK-based with the right to work without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of ARC and Swaya, including development, quality, and roadmap
• Work directly with our founders on product direction
• Inherit a solid Rails and React codebase and improve it
• Manage iOS and Android app updates
• Solve real UX problems
• Ship features that our users notice and value

We are Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust, a group of sixth form colleges based in the Midlands. We are building two live, paying products: ARC, a 360-degree leadership platform that turns feedback into behavioural change, and Swaya, a student feedback app for iOS and Android. This role is 0.6 FTE to start, with a clear path to full-time as the products grow.
