Requirements

• We require active SC Security Clearance and NPPV3 Security Clearance.
• We are looking for a technical Scrum Master with hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot and microservices development.
• We require experience working in AWS cloud environments.
• We are looking for strong technical leadership and the ability to review and challenge Java and Spring Boot code.
• We require experience influencing software engineering decisions, design patterns and implementation approaches.
• We require experience driving code quality improvements through reviews, static analysis and test coverage.
• We require experience optimising CI/CD pipelines for Java-based services and supporting build, test and deployment automation.
• We are looking for experience tracking delivery using DORA metrics and software engineering KPIs.
• We require knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices, RESTful APIs and AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, IAM and CloudWatch.
• We require experience with CI/CD tools for Java applications such as Jenkins and GitHub.
• We require experience with Docker, ECS and EKS.
• Scrum, AWS or SAFe certifications such as CSM or PSM are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• We lead Scrum ceremonies and ensure effective sprint planning, execution and delivery outcomes.
• We act as a technical authority within the squad, working closely with the Technical Delivery Manager, Product Owners, Architects, Developers and Testers.
• We review and challenge Java and Spring Boot microservices code to ensure clean code, performance, scalability and best practice.
• We influence software engineering decisions relating to Java frameworks, design patterns and implementation approaches.
• We drive code quality improvements through reviews, static analysis and test coverage.
• We drive CI/CD pipeline optimisation for Java-based services, including build, test and deployment automation.
• We track delivery using DORA metrics and software engineering KPIs.
• We monitor pipeline performance, defect rates and service reliability.
• We support secure delivery of application and DevOps services in an AWS environment.

We are a leading global IT transformation business specialising in large-scale Government and Public Sector projects. This is a 6-month hybrid contract based in Birmingham, with 3 days a week working remotely and 2 days a week in our Birmingham office, plus occasional travel to our Croydon office. The role is outside IR35 and is due to start as soon as possible in July 2026. This is not a traditional Scrum Master position; it combines Agile leadership with deep technical capability in Java-based microservices, giving you the opportunity to actively challenge code, influence engineering decisions and drive DevOps best practices across our AWS platforms.
