Requirements
- We require prior experience with end-to-end implementation of cloud data technologies, including Fabric and Snowflake.
- We require strong expertise in data modelling, ELT, and implementing complex stored procedures.
- We require experience with Snowflake technologies such as Snowpark, SnowPipe, SnowPipe Stream, Dynamic Tables, Document AI, Cortex Analytics, and Unistore.
- We require experience in Snowflake cost and query optimization, including CapitalOne Slingshot.
- We require knowledge of resource monitors, RBAC controls, virtual warehouse sizing, query performance tuning, zero copy clone, and time travel.
- We require awareness of data migration from RDBMS, SAP systems, Salesforce, GIS, and PI Historian to Snowflake.
- We require a deep understanding of relational and NoSQL data stores, including star and snowflake schemas, dimensional modelling, and third normal form.
- We require experience with data security, data access controls, and security solution design.
- We require a strong understanding of SoX, GDPR, and regulatory/CNI control environments.
- We require the ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues across infrastructure, platform, and application domains.
- We require experience working with business intelligence and analytics teams to gather database design and modelling requirements.
- We require knowledge of modern cloud technologies and data platforms, including Fabric, Snowflake, CosmoDB, Databricks, MongoDB, RDBMS, AzureML, Matillion, Alteryx, Qlik, Power BI, and related tools.
- We require experience with data replication and CDC tools such as Qlik Replicate and Oracle GoldenGate.
- We require experience with data modelling tools such as ERStudio.
- We require experience with message-oriented data movement, API design and access, data virtualization, and streaming data.
- We require familiarity with machine learning, generative AI, and agentic AI.
- We require the ability to work in an agile delivery environment with a focus on scope, performance, cost, ROI, and schedule.
Responsibilities
- We define the architecture and solution designs of data products across the NGET FUNCTIONS business area.
- We align data product designs with broader solution architecture and portfolio prioritization.
- We develop data products from conception through final delivery and throughout the product lifecycle.
- We plan, design, develop, and maintain data architecture and standards for data integration projects.
- We ensure new features and subject areas are modelled to integrate with existing structures.
- We develop and maintain documentation for data integration patterns, data flows, data standards, and data architecture.
- We provide direction on the adoption of modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
- We play a key role in selecting enterprise data tools.
- We deliver architecture, security, and integration-related project deliverables.
- We help operationalize urgent data and analytics initiatives for strategic business priorities.
- We work with data product teams within the business unit delivery vehicle to support the data strategy.
- We control access to data and reports and implement data security needs and solutions.
- We collaborate with business intelligence and analytics teams to gather requirements for database design and modelling.
- We ensure compliance with standards related to quality, safety, sustainability, scope, cost, ROI, and schedule.
- We work in agile delivery and ways of working to support efficient product delivery.

We are recruiting a Principal Data Architect for a remote 6-month contract within our Data Science family under DSF, supporting Professional Services for NGET in the Customer Network Development department. The role sits within our data interoperability team and plays a pivotal part in delivering our data strategy, helping ensure data is available to support our vision of being at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future.
