Scala Developer - Opencast/HMRC

Salary: £83,100 - 97,000 per year

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Scala
• Experience working on UK Government or public sector projects
• Solid understanding and hands-on use of Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Experience working in agile, sprint-based teams
• Pega experience or exposure (nice to have)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Scala
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following TDD principles
• Collaborate with product managers, testers, and other engineers in an agile environment
• Contribute to code reviews and technical discussions
• Support continuous improvement of development standards and practices

Both roles are offered on an initial 3-month contract, with a strong chance of extension. The positions are remote-first, with occasional travel to Newcastle approximately every 2 weeks.
