Python Engineering Lead / Founding Engineer

Salary: £80,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for strong Python experience, particularly with asynchronous or distributed systems.
• We need solid experience building APIs and backend services.
• We are looking for a good understanding of cloud environments, with Azure preferred, as well as CI/CD and deployment.
• We need experience building and shipping systems used in real-world environments, ideally in client-facing or delivery-led settings.
• We are looking for someone who enjoys the craft of engineering and building things properly, not just shipping code.
• We need a genuine interest in AI and how it is shaping modern software development.

Responsibilities

• We want you to take ownership of building production-grade systems, not just prototypes.

• We want you to think through async processing, scale, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production.
• We need you to work closely with clients to capture requirements and design solutions from the ground up.
• We want you to contribute to shaping the engineering culture, ways of working, and technical direction as we scale.
• We need you to help deliver work in real client environments with a balance of pace and quality.

We are a small, talented, and well-backed team of engineers and data scientists working in the AI engineering space, partnering with private equity-backed businesses to solve complex technical and analytical problems and take ideas from early concept through to production-grade systems. We are still early enough that our engineering culture, ways of working, and technical direction are being shaped, and the foundations we build now will matter. You will join us as a Founding Engineer and Engineering Lead in a fully remote role across the UK and Europe, with the opportunity to influence how things are built as we grow from around 15 people today to 50 over the next 12 months.
