Requirements

• We require recent Central Government experience.
• We require strong experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
• We require proficiency with Playwright and/or Cypress for end-to-end test automation.
• We require hands-on experience testing services built with Kotlin and TypeScript.
• We require a strong understanding of API testing, including calls to legacy systems and modern integration services.
• We require experience with integration resilience testing, including handling failures, timeouts, and degraded upstream dependencies.
• We require familiarity with contract testing such as PACT.
• We require experience working in environments with multiple APIs and complex system interactions.
• We require the ability to work through an umbrella company due to the role being inside IR35.
• We require an experienced Automation Tester.

Responsibilities

• We design and implement automated test frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
• We carry out end-to-end test automation using Playwright and/or Cypress.
• We test services built with Kotlin and TypeScript.
• We perform API testing across legacy systems and modern integration services.
• We conduct integration resilience testing to validate behaviour under failures, timeouts, and degraded dependencies.
• We apply contract testing practices such as PACT.
• We work across environments with multiple APIs and complex system interactions.
• We work remotely and attend occasional travel for meetings.

We are recruiting an experienced Automation Tester to join us on a remote contract with occasional travel for meetings. This role is inside IR35, so you will need to work through an umbrella company for the duration of the contract. We are looking for someone who has recently worked within Central Government and brings strong expertise across automated testing, API and integration testing, and modern test automation tools.
