Developer Platforms Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements

• We need at least 3 years of GitHub experience.
• We need at least 3 years of experience in cloud computing, specifically AWS or Azure.
• We need strong git skills.
• We need experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform.
• We need experience with programming languages such as Go, Python, or Node.js.
• We need experience with continuous integration systems.
• We need demonstrable hands-on experience running highly available services.
• We need strong problem-solving skills.
• We need the ability to bridge the gap between management, non-technical stakeholders, and development teams.
• We need someone who is passionate about software and active on GitHub.
• We need a self-starter who is comfortable learning new technologies and reading technical documentation.

• We value AI and digital literacy, including designing and operating AI-enabled solutions in enterprise environments, prompt-driven workflows, retrieval-augmented systems, and AI agents.

Responsibilities

• We manage, secure, and promote our developer platforms across Centrica.
• We handle support issues for end users and make sure they have what they need to do their jobs.
• We onboard new developer platforms, secure them, and document them.
• We enable teams by helping them set up and support the platforms they consume.
• We build automations to improve and streamline developer processes and journeys.
• We deliver guardrails and enable teams with feature demos, templates, and related resources.
• We keep up to date with supplier updates and promote new features internally.
• We design, build, and operate developer platforms for teams across Centrica.
• We work with stakeholders such as Infosec, Strategy, Architecture, and T&N to ensure our platforms meet requirements.
• We provide guidance on developer best practices.
• We work with our Cloud Engineering and development teams to deliver highly available tools and services.
• We empower developer teams to deliver more effectively.
• We support operational and development tasks through reliable platforms and services.
• We contribute to improving cyber and operational resilience through modern engineering practices.
