If you love solving problems, experimenting, and shaping a game’s identity from the inside out, you’ll fit right in. https://www.castlelorestudios.com What You’ll Do • Build and refine gameplay systems using Blueprints and/or C++ • Work closely with design and art to bring environments, interactions, and narrative beats to life • Implement and optimize UE5 features (World Partition, Niagara, Materials, Animation, etc.) • Help define workflows and pipelines that keep a small team moving efficiently • Profile and optimize performance across CPU, GPU, memory, and streaming • Debug, document, and iterate on systems with a “ship it, then polish it” mindset • Contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and help shape the game’s feel and identity Requirements • At least one shipped title (indie, AA, mobile, console, or PC — we care about real production experience) • Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine (UE4 or UE5) • Solid Blueprint skills; C++ experience is a plus • Understanding of core game dev fundamentals (input, physics, UI, AI, optimization) • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a small team • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to iterate • Ability to build a polished, end-to-end feature • Proven ability to develop playable prototypes and polished vertical slice demos Nice-to-Haves • Experience with large worlds, streaming, or Zen Loading • Comfort building tools or editor utilities • Experience with stylized or atmospheric VFX (Niagara) • A passion for narrative‑driven or atmospheric games What We Offer • A chance to meaningfully shape a game from early to late development • Flexible hours and remote‑friendly workflow • Creative autonomy and room to experiment • A culture built on trust, transparency, and craft Pay: $35.00 - $55.06 per hour Education: • Bachelor's (Preferred) Experience: • Unreal Engine: 3 years (Preferred) • Blueprint scripting and gameplay systems implementation: 3 years (Preferred) • C++ gameplay programming in Unreal: 3 years (Preferred) • Profiling/optimizing CPU, GPU, memory, streaming in Unreal: 2 years (Preferred) • Shipping a game to release: 1 year (Preferred) Language: • English (Required) Work Location: Remote
