Project/Systems Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - 69,000 per year

Requirements

• A demonstrable ability to design, develop, analyse, and think at a system level.
• Experience working with formal system requirements.
• An appreciation of multiple engineering disciplines.
• Experience in a customer-facing role.
• The ability to create and maintain system diagrams and documentation.
• Experience installing and configuring software on Windows-based computers.
• Computer networking at intermediate level or above.
• A practical and hands-on approach.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Degree-level education in an applicable engineering discipline, such as Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering/Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering.
• 2 years experience in security, defence, or another mixed-discipline high-tech industry.
• Recent graduates who have completed a sandwich course, year in industry, or other significant relevant working experience will also be considered.
• A drivers licence will be considered beneficial due to occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Help deliver and develop our radar systems and projects.
• Carry out system-level design, architecture, and specification of systems and installations using our radars.
• Work with our sales team and customers to establish and develop requirements.
• Deliver customer demonstrations and training.
• Plan and oversee radar test and development trials.
• Work with our support team to deliver completed solutions and systems.
• Support existing and future systems by working hands-on with our radars as required.
• Visit supplier and customer locations in the UK and overseas when needed.
• Work independently while collaborating and communicating effectively with other engineers and end users.

We are Blighter Surveillance Systems, a UK-based electronic-scanning radar and sensor solution provider delivering integrated multi-sensor packages to systems integrators, including electronic-scanning radars, cameras, thermal imagers, trackers, and software solutions. We are growing our in-house design and development team to support new product developments and enhancements. Our main office is located in Great Chesterford, about 10 miles south of Cambridge, with ample parking, a railway station on the Liverpool Street–Cambridge line, and easy access to the M11. This is a hybrid role with 3 days per week onsite, and we provide training on Blighter radars and systems with many opportunities for hands-on experience.
